Reading

I love a good book, and am particularly drawn to the escapism, fictional types. My favourites tend to fall into the category of “chick-lit”: series like Confessions of a Shopaholic, or works by Lauren Weisberger, such as The Devil Wears Prada or Chasing Harry Winston. I know these aren’t known for containing much substance, but they’re humorous and lighthearted, and just what my maxed out brain loves at the end of the day before heading to bed.

Having said that, here’s what is occupying my nightstand these days. I have just gotten into French Kids Eat Everything by Karen Le Billon, and so far, so good. I have been pleasantly surprised that it is less about parenting advice and hard rules about eating/feeding, and more about a family’s journey of moving to France and learning all of the cultural differences that come along with such a big move; primarily how large a role food plays in everyday life.

Reading

Even though she’s still too small to really understand books and stories, I have gotten into the habit of reading to Thea every night before bed. She has a growing collection of books and I love adding to it. Our nightly favourite is Goodnight Moon, but I will be referring to this list compiled by my friend, Andrea over at Pinksugarland to refresh Thea’s lot. She’s cool, and her kids are cool, so I’m confident that her book suggestions are equally as cool.

What are you reading these days? I’d love to hear any recommendations you may have, whether they fit within my earlier described category or not (I’m all about expanding my horizons!).

Happy week!

  1. French Kids Eat Everything sounds really interesting! Maybe I’ll read it after I get through Bringing Up Bebe. I haven’t read Wedding Night yet, but I do own a copy. I quite enjoyed her last one (I’ve Got Your Number) which I actually listened to on audio. Have you read Me Before You by Jojo Moyes? It was probably my favourite read of last year. The Rosie Project is also really, really good!

    • Thanks for the suggestions, Brie, I’m definitely going to check them out! I loved Bringing Up Bebe, although I didn’t get through all of it (I renewed it the maximum amount of times, so I had to return it ha!). However, what I did read actually reminds me a lot of French Kids Eat Everything, so I think you’ll enjoy it!
